Cavan Institute – college focused, work ready

Cavan Institute continues to go from strength to strength offering more than 70 post Leaving Certificate (PLC ) courses to students from all over Ireland.

Graduate Karen Harten recalls her success journey to home economics and religion teaching in St Angela’s College, Sligo. “My time at Cavan Institute taught me many useful things that I can now take with me into college such as academic writing, how to plan, write, and format assignments as well as learning how to research and reference information." she says. "I was able to develop my interpersonal, technological, and social skills which helped me excel in the APT project. With the help and guidance of my tutors I was able to complete each assignment to the highest standard and as a result of this, I was able to reach my original goal and received a Level 8 offer into home economics and religion teaching in St Angela’s College Sligo in recent round zero CAO offers.

"I recommend Cavan Institute as it prepares you for college life and offers you many different options to achieve your goals."

Cavan Institute’s success rate is very high, which was notable in last year’s round zero CAO offers. Many students were awarded higher education opportunities in science, nursing, business, engineering, art, sport, and recreation. In addition to this, a number of students were offered places in the UK in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and PE teaching.

“These places were offered to students following their results at Cavan Institute,” said director of Cavan Institute Ann Marie Lacey.

Students from Cavan Institute frequently go directly into employment in fields such as hairdressing, healthcare, and motor mechanics, among others. Cavan Institute is also home to the regional centre for the new commis chef programme.
