Bloody Sunday memorial in Galway this weekend

Sinn Féin to hold event in Eyre Square to mark 50th anniversary of the atrocity

This Sunday, January 30, marks the 50th anniversary of one of the most shocking atrocities of the Northern Ireland conflict - Bloody Sunday.

On Sunday January 30 1972, 13 innocent people were massacred in Derry by soldiers of the British Parachute Regiment following a peaceful Civil Rights march. Later, another person died of wounds in hospital.

This Sunday at 4pm, Galway Sinn Féin will hold a memorial service for the 14 victims at the Liam Mellows statue in Eyre Square. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
