Cheevers demands start date for building new toilets at Ballyloughane

Councillor calls for money collected through derelict site levies used to ‘ringfence completing this project’

A start date for construction of the new toilets and changing facilities at Ballyloughane beach needs to be made now by the Galway City Council.

Fianna Fáil Galway City East councillor, Alan Cheevers has called for a commencement date as the current toilets “are not fit for purpose”. He added that the area has seen “a large increase of both residents and visitors” using the new Liam Mellows walkway, which he called, “a great addition to the east of the city”.

In a previous council budget, €40,000 was allocated for such works at the beach, and Cllr Cheevers has called for money collected in recent months through derelict site levies from the east side of the city used to “ring fence completing this project”.
