SARAH BREEN and Emer McLysaght, the authors of the immensely popular Aisling comic novels, and young adult fiction writer Bethany Rutter, will read at Cúirt 2022.
The writers will appear at True to Your Heart in the Town Hall Theatre on Saturday April 9 at 5pm as part of the Cúirt International Festival of Literature. They will examine the idea of staying true to yourself, when you are perceived to ‘have it all’.
In Breen and McLysaght’s Aisling In The City, published last October, Aisling is off to New York following a surprise job offer. In the Big Apple she encounters crazy work schedules, new friends, and hot dates, yet something about it cannot compare to the community and belonging she feels in Ballygobard.

In Welcome to Your Life, the adult novel debut of Bethany Rutter [pictured above], Serena Mills has everything she is supposed to want – a house, a job, a finance, yet she gives it all up for a move to the big city where she believes she will find out who she really is and what she really wants.
Emer McLysaght is a columnist at The Irish Times. Sarah Breen’s background is in print journalism, specifically magazines. Bethany Rutter is an author, podcaster, and blogger who writes about the benefits and limitations of body positivity, among other subjects.
