GTI launches exciting new courses for 2022

We live at a time when planning for the future poses greater challenges than ever. People today must be ready to face many career shifts over their working lives.

Galway Technical Institute is dedicated to develop in its students the knowledge and skills they will need to prepare for a future in these challenging times. All GTI courses are designed to be of immediate and practical use in the workplace or as a pathway to further study and higher education. Everything students learn will be valuable to them throughout their lives.

As the world around us changes at an almost alarming rate, Further education colleges, such as GTI must respond by changing just as rapidly in order that their courses are relevant to the needs of learners & society.

Each year GTI offers new courses and significantly redesigns existing courses in order to serve the ever changing needs of learners.

GTI provide the launch pad for learners to enter the workplace, start an apprenticeship or progress to further and higher education and our courses are particularly suited to the vast majority who are undecided as to what they would like to study in the future of which career path they may wish to pursue.

A one year full-time programme at GTI offers learners the breathing space to explore all their future options whilst at the same time gaining valuable skills and qualifications.

GTI has an extensive range of programmes for autumn 2022. Check out www.gti.ie for a full list of courses. New for 2022 are a number of pre-university programmes specifically geared towards providing learners with a foundation in Arts, Science, Engineering & Law prior to deciding on a 3 or 4 year degree course. Learners take modules similar to those offered at Universities as well as modules to improve their general academic and research skills.

Applicants who successfully complete their course at GTI and achieve the necessary entry requirements can apply for over 250 reserved QQI places in NUIG. (www.cao.ie / www.nuig.ie ) Places are offered on a competitive basis and are open to holders of relevant QQI awards.

Principal, Geraldine Gibbons feels that ‘For many students the leap from second level into the vastness of third level can be quite a daunting one even when a young person is sure of what it is they wish to study.

More and more students are now taking an opportunity to step back and explore all of the options that are now available to them in the further education and training sector. Courses which provide a blend of work placements, practical and applied learning are capturing the attention of both students and employers.

Furthermore Further Education courses qualify for SUSI grants and fees are a fraction of that in the Third Level sector. With the recent expansion in the range of apprenticeships now available, PLC courses are the ideal pathway to a future career in many sectors such as the Accounting Technician Apprenticeship, currently running in GTI.’

For those interested in gaining a qualification and commencing work, GTI offers courses in Beauty Therapy, Hairdressing, Animal Care – Dog Grooming, and new for 2022, Make - Up Artistry.

GTI welcomes applications from both school leavers and mature learners who wish to retrain or up skill. Please check the GTI website for full details of all courses being offered across all Departments. Applications can be made through CAO or directly on GTI’s website at www.gti.ie Applications are open from this Friday January 21st
