Start your career pathway at Galway Community College of Further Education

Galway Community College, GCC, is one of the leading providers of further education courses in Galway city, offering full time QQI accredited courses at both Level 5 and 6. It offers courses in six specialist departments, design and technology; sport; film, music, and theatre; science and engineering; social care; and business and secretarial. The college is currently busy developing new courses in line with employment opportunities and course demands to suit learners. Information about these new exciting courses will be available soon on the website www.galwaycc.ie and social media channels @GCCFurtherEd.

The option of studying a PLC/further education course is now attractive to school leavers and those hoping to improve their employment opportunities or progression to courses in local and national higher education colleges. Students can convert their QQI results to CAO points, up to 390 points for most courses and higher for others. Completing a course can also be used to investigate a study area before committing to a degree course in this area. The costs involved are low in comparison to higher education courses. Further education courses can qualify for a SUSI grant, and the fee for most full-time courses in GCC is €175. More information on fees can be accessed on www.galwaycc.ie

While studying in GCC you can expect a friendly, inclusive, environment. The college has a reputation for ensuring all students are included and settled in their studies. There are many student supports available including career guidance, counselling services, a disability officer on campus, with IT supports to succeed in your studies.

GCC offers fully funded Erasmus placements where there are plenty of work experience opportunities abroad. Situated at Moneenageisha Junction, GCC has an ideal location close to the city centre, with free parking, a café, playing pitches, bus stop, and a fully equipped gym among the many modern facilities available.

GCC offers all students an opportunity to complete their work experience abroad through the Erasmus programme, and has established work placements links with partner colleges in Europe. These work placements offer students an opportunity to develop their cultural and educational expertise in their vocational area.
