Completing a GRETB training course offers many benefits from a personal and career perspective; you will gain access to employment opportunities in the future by developing your skills to compete in the challenging jobs market.
For spring 2022 GRETB has a variety of online courses including CompTIA fundamentals, payroll award, CompTIA Network+, visual design with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and Cisco Network Associate Awards.
The centre also offers courses in reception and clerical skills, manual and computerised payroll and bookkeeping, and door security.
The cleanroom operator training course offers training to those wishing to seek employment in the medical device manufacturing industry in Galway.
Driving courses include bus/mini bus driving, HGV rigid/artic, RSA approved driving instructor course, and employment skills – forklift, Safe Pass, and manual handling.
Traineeships such as IT support specialist, beauty therapy, and pharmacy retail sales offer substantive work placements opening doors to a career in these industries.
The centre has fully equipped workshops for carpentry and joinery, plumbing, electrical, motor mechanic, and metal fabrication for apprenticeship delivery, and CAD/CNC and welding workshops.
Apprenticeship programmes for Galway and Roscommon are administered through the GRETB Training Centre. An apprenticeship is a programme which combines learning in the workplace with learning in a training centre or educational college. They vary from two years to four years in duration and range from QQI Level 5 to QQI Level 9, while the apprentice is paid a weekly allowance for the duration of the apprenticeship. As well as the traditional trades such as plumbing and electrical, there are apprenticeships in auctioneering, manufacturing, software developer, accounting technician, insurance practitioner, arboriculture, craft butchery, and many more.
Skills to Advance is a national initiative aimed at upskilling and reskilling those in employment. Employers and employees can avail of highly and fully funded courses. At the moment, GRETB is offering employers online courses for their staff in leadership and management, customer service in industry, and training and development.
Evening and Saturday courses
The training centre offers online evening and Saturday courses in door guarding security, continuous improvement in manufacturing, First Aid Responder (PHECC ), social media for business, PC repair, maintenance (and security ), supervisory management, start your own business certified, cert in training and development, and ICDL (rebranded ECDL ).
All courses are accredited by national and internationally recognised examining and professional bodies.
