Blue Teapot Theatre Company is recruiting new students into its performing arts school for September 2022. This is an opportunity for people with an intellectual disability, aged 18 and over, to gain formal arts training.
The three-year programme leads to certification in QQI Levels 2 and 3 with modules including drama, music, drawing, costume, and event participation. The programme incorporates life skills including online safety, advocacy, health and fitness. Literacy and IT supports are provided by Galway Adult Basic Education Services.
Based in Galway city centre, the school creates a fun environment where learners can fulfil their artistic potential. Talking about the course, student Sophie Jacobsen commented: “I really enjoy the work. We do a lot of interesting subjects like design, film making and music. I enjoy being in Blue Teapot because I have made lots of friends. I love it there.”
Tutors are some of Galway’s leading professional theatre and arts practitioners. Music tutor Fiona O’Dea remarked: “Working at Blue Teapot Performing Arts School has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life; sharing the power and magic of music and singing with so many enthusiastic, creative, learners is a dream come true, especially in such a warm and supportive environment.”
There are limited places available to ensure a quality and tailored learning experience.
