A planning application has been lodged by the Galway County Council with An Board Pleanála for the re-alignment of the N17 road from Milltown to Gortnagunned.
The proposed works will involve 3km of rural road being re-aligned on the N17 National Primary Route and will involve improvement to eight T-junctions, 36 access connections, and drainage works”. A decision is expected from An Board Pleanála by June 2022.
The news has been welcomed by Independent Galway West TD, Seán Canney. “This project will complete the final phase of realignments of the N17 between Milltown and Ballindine,” he said. “It will provide for safer access and safer driving on this very busy national primary route.”
