A total of €264,910 has been made available to the Galway City Council via the new Community Activities Fund scheme, and applications from community groups within Galway city are being sought.
The scheme is being administered by Galway City Local Community Development Committee, on behalf of the Department of Rural and Community Development.
Funding from the CAF scheme can be put towards development/renovation of community centres, community amenities, development of youth clubs or facilities, development of sports/recreation facilities, improvements to town parks and common areas and spaces, public realm improvements, streetscaping, and development of play/recreation spaces, among other measures.

“The Community Activities Fund (CAF ) is about giving a helping hand to our communities, local groups, and clubs impacted by Covid-19,” said the council’s director of services for community, Ruth McNally. “These grants will help support groups, particularly in disadvantaged areas, with their non-pay running costs such as utility bills, and other non-pay operating costs such as existing rental/lease costs or insurance bills.”
Applications can be completed via www.galwaycity.ie/caf and should relate to one or more key priority areas identified in the Galway City Local Economic & Community Plan 2015 – 2021, which can be viewed via https://www.galwaycity.ie/local-economic-and-community-plan/lecp.
The closing date for applications online under the Community Activities Fund is Friday February 4 2022 at 4pm.
