Treatment plans needed to allow regions to grow, says Canney

Canney has stated that a scheme to provide wastewater treatment plants is required as a matter of urgency in order to deliver housing and allow the regions to grow.

“Villages like Craughwell, Corofin and Abbeyknockmoy are frozen and cannot build any homes or other commercial development due to the lack of wastewater treatment facilities,” he says.

“A scheme is required immediately, and I urge the Minister for Housing to provide the scheme now.

“We need to allow our villages to develop in a coherent manner to allow families to live there and ensure sustainable communities.

“We can easily provide more affordable homes in these villages if the infrastructure is in place.

He concluded: “It is a no brainer and needs to be pushed forward as a matter or urgency.”
