Athenry Credit Union funding boost for Voices for Down Syndrome Galway

With contributions from members, staff and the board of Directors of Athenry Credit Union, a total of €1,000 was raised as part of the Athenry Credit Union Down Syndrome Awareness Month.

Philip Lavelle, Marketing Officer said he would like to express their deepest gratitude to everyone who generously donated to their fundraiser.

“We are delighted to have partnered with Voices for Down Syndrome Galway as our chosen beneficiary of funds raised. Voices for Down Syndrome Galway provide an amazing Speech Therapy service to their members. We are delighted to be able to offer our support in raising awareness and much needed funds for the charity.”

Carmel Hannon from Voices for Down Syndrome Galway said the welcome funds donated will go towards the provision of speech and language therapy in the community they serve.

“By supporting the communication needs of people with Down Syndrome across the life span we are developing functional speech and language skills for everyday life. Helping them achieve their full potential in all aspects of community living, working towards an improved quality of life with respect and acceptance of people with Down Syndrome as valued members of their community. It’s rewarding and encouraging to witness on a daily basis the difference we help make in people’s lives.”

Down Syndrome Ireland Galway Branch has members of all ages throughout the county. They offer support and friendship to people with Down Syndrome and their families, working towards an improved quality of life with respect and acceptance of people with Down Syndrome as valued members of their community.
