Red Bird Youth Collective seeks new members

Youth led art collective to create a series of short films in January

RED BIRD Youth Collective, the Galway youth-led visual art collective, is seeking new members, aged between 15 and 24.

In January, Red Bird will be starting a new film project with artist Louise Manifold. Using old Irish travelogues as inspiration, the group will make their own short films on Galway city and the Interface artist studios in Connemara.

Members will learn how to shoot video, including how to video using their mobile phone, and film on location in Galway city and Inagh. This will be followed by workshops in editing, writing, and voice-over and a recording session in a professional studio. The final films will be shown at a public event in March 2022.

“Red Bird are one of the most creatively dynamic youth arts groups in the country,” said Louise Manifold [pictured above]. “I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with a new group of young people on this new experimental project that aims to explore the effects of the last two years, climate action, and environmental concerns through the eyes of young people.”

Workshops will take place weekly on Saturday afternoons from January to March. Membership of Red Bird is free. For more information contact Karen at [email protected]
