An Taibhdhearc Christmas panto returns

Jeacaí agus an Fathach Mór Dána to run from December 9 to 18

AFTER TWO years of closure due to the Covid crisis, An Taibhdhearc will reopen its doors with a Christmas panto - Jeacaí agus an Fathach Mór Dána, an Irish language version of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Staged by Fíbin, written by Bridget Breathnach, directed by Séamus Ó hAodha, and with music and song composed by Morgan Cooke, Jeacaí agus an Fathach Mór Dána will star Gearóid Kavanagh, Eilish Carey, and Honi Cooke.

Children and adults attending the pantomime will be greeted by Tír na nIontas, a sumptuous and glittering ‘Christmas Wonderland’, currently being constructed in the foyer of the theatre.

“After the tough few years we have all had, it is heartening to see the Taibhdhearc’s traditional pantomime back,” said Séamus Hughes. “As a proud Galwegian who regularly went to the pantomime as a kid, I am delighted that it is back as it is such a special and important part of Christmas in Galway. We can promise a great night of magical theatre and a lot of fun.”

Jeaicí agus an Fathach Mór Dána runs in An Taibhdhearc from December 9 to 18 at 7.30pm. There will be matinees on Saturdays and Sundays at 2.30pm. Tickets are available via www.antaibhdhearc.com
