A WEEKEND of event cinema screenings awaits at The Eye as The Met Opera Live returns alongside André Rieu’s traditional Christmas special show.
This Saturday, December 5, at 5.55pm, there will be a live broadcast of the Met’s production of Eurydice by American composer Matthew Aucoin. With a libretto by MacArthur Genius Grant recipient Sarah Ruhl, adapted from her acclaimed 2003 play, the opera reimagines this Greek myth from Eurydice’s point of view.
It stars soprano Erin Morley in the title role; baritone Joshua Hopkins, and countertenor Jakub Józef Orli?ski, bass-baritone Nathan Berg, and tenor Barry Banks.
The annual Christmas shows by André ‘king of the waltz’ Rieu will be screened at The Eye this Saturday at 3pm and Sunday at 6pm.
Expect to hear Christmas carols, romantic waltzes, and a show-stopping performance of ‘Walking in the Air’, amid 150 chandeliers, 50 Venetian candelabras, and a winter landscape of ice rinks and ice skaters. There will also be backstage access.
Early arrival and booking is strongly advised. For tickets go to https://www.eyecinema.ie/event-cinema or call 091 - 780078.
