THE NAVARRA Quartet, one of Britain’s most sought-after string quartets, are coming to Galway to perform a concert at St Joseph’s Church, Presentation Road.
Though UK based, the quartet hail from diverse cultural backgrounds, and are named after the Spanish/Basque region of Navarra in northern Spain.
They play a Music for Galway concert in St Joseph’s Church on Thursday November 25 at 8pm, with a programme of Bartók and Dvorák, preceded by a piece from the fascinating Dutch composer Henriëtte Bosmans.
Selected for representation by the Young Classical Artists Trust in 2006, the Navarra has since won the MIDEM Classique Young Artist Award, a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, and top prizes at the Banff, Melbourne, and Florence International String Quartet Competitions, and in 2017, they took the prestigious Kersjes Prize in the Netherlands.
In 2022, the Navarra Quartet will celebrate their 20th anniversary, with the release of the complete Mozart quartets dedicated to Haydn, new commissions, and tours to Europe, the USA, and Australia.
