THE GALWAY Indian Community will hold its annual Diwali celebration at the Salthill Hotel, this Saturday, November 6, from 5.30pm.
Diwali is the Indian festival of lights and is an opportunity for those who love Indian traditions and culture to meet and celebrate together in a family-friendly way.
This year’s event will begin with reverent contemplation for Lakshmi Puja, and the lamps will be lit to symbolise the triumph of light over darkness. There will be an address from the event’s guests of honour, after which an authentic Indian dinner will be served. This will be followed by a disco featuring Bollywood and Bhangra tunes.
.
Galway Indian Community was established in 2006, with the aim of sustaining and passing on Indian culture and traditions to the next generation of Galwegians of Indian origin, and sharing this culture with the wider Galway community.
