Light Grey return with Are You Even Real EP

New release shows duo's transition from pop-rock to a emo-rap-infused pop-punk

LIGHT GREY, the Galway pop-punk/alt-rock band are back with a new EP - their first EP release since 2018 - and it unveils new developments in their sound and style.

The five track Are You Even Real show Light Grey - Ciaran Nevin and Mikey Connolly - showcases the bands transition from pop-rock into a grittier and energetic emo-rap-infused pop-punk. Lyrically, the EP deals with the “complexities of a friendship gone sour”.

“It’s about coming to the realisation that the friends you had were never really there for you in the first place,” say the duo. “This is why we gave it the title Are You Even Real. Because of the lockdowns over the past year or so, people are reassessing who their real friends are. This EP is a supplement to the pain of moving on from the toxic people in your life.”

Formed in late 2017, Light Grey released their debut EP, Beginners Luck in 2018. They subsequently released three singles throughout 2019 and 2020. Are You Even Real was co-produced and mixed by Happydaze’s Luke Bovil.
