Shifting Ground - new John Behan exhibition at Kenny’s

Artist’s work to explore the pandemic, the Famine, emigration, and the poems of Seamus Heaney

SHIFTING GROUND, the new exhibition of works in bronze, from the celebrated Irish sculptor, John Behan, opens tomorrow, Friday October 8, at the Kenny Gallery.

The sculptures will explore the artist’s experience throughout the pandemic and see further explorations of his abiding preoccupations with emigration and the Famine, including striking new versions of his iconic ‘Famine Ship’.

Contemporary refugee imagery features too, and there will also be some new works based on images suggested by the poetry of Seamus Heaney. The sculpture will be supported by a series of related paintings and drawings in mixed media.
