Films about Scottish architecture, with a Scottish soundtrack, at the Town Hall Theatre

A SCOTTISH architect’s life and work, a Scottish building, a Scottish documentary maker, and a Scottish composer will come together at a concert in Galway.

Music for Galway and the Architecture At The Edge festival present Film, Architecture & Music at the Town Hall Theatre on Sunday December 10 at 8pm. The event will see the screening of two documentaries by Murray Grigor - Mackintosh, about the celebrated Art Nouveau architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, and Space and Light, about the modernist building of St Peter’s Seminary on the Firth of Clyde.

Both films feature scores by Frank Spedding, and these will be performed live by chamber music ensemble Musici Ireland, who will be conducted by Scottish conductor Rory Boyle, who studied composition with Frank Spedding.

Two more Murray Grigor documentaries - In Search of Clarity: Gwathmey Siegel and Carlo Scarpa - will be shown at the Pálás this Saturday, October 9, at 3pm followed by a discussion with the director.
