Eden Programme brings hope to those at risk of suicide

Programme is open to people aged over 18 who have attempted or contemplated suicide

If you, or someone you know, has thought about or attempted suicide, then the Eden Programme may be of assistance.

Run by the HSE’s National Counselling Service, Eden is an educational programme that also incorporates a therapeutic element and is geared at supporting people to move away from suicide as an option in times of crisis.

The programme has been running since 2007 and has been externally evaluated by Dublin City University, and recruitment of participants is currently underway for Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.

The Eden programme is open to people aged over 18 who have attempted or contemplated suicide. It provides a safe space where participants can explore their experiences, learn skills to help them monitor and manage their mental health, and build a range of supports appropriate to their needs.

This programme runs one morning (three hours ) a week for 26 weeks, beginning in January 2022. A maximum of 16 participants are accepted per programme.

People can self-refer to the programme. For more information or to obtain an application form, email [email protected] or call 091 - 528030. Screening and interviews to identify participant needs will begin in November 2021.

It is hoped to offer one face-to-face and one online programme. Please note this is NOT an emergency service.
