At Galway Samaritans we understand the value of talking and the power of human connection. Just talking to another person can help someone to stop, breathe and start to see a way through their problems. If you’re going through a tough time, you do not have to face it alone.
The Samaritans give people the chance to talk to someone straight away when they need it, even in the middle of the night. There is no set time limit, callers can take the time they need to talk things through, and know they can call again if they need to. We will not judge or tell you what to do, we are simply here to listen with respect, dignity, care, and compassion.
Not everyone who contacts Samaritans is suicidal, the majority of our callers are struggling with everyday worries and anxieties - isolation, loneliness, mental and physical health problems, and family and relationship problems are among the top reasons people call us.
Galway Samaritans is one of 13 branches across Ireland that ensure a round the clock service. Those who may struggle to pick up the phone and talk about their problems can also email a Samaritans volunteer who will support them through a difficult time.
If you are struggling, talk to The Samaritans for free, 24/7, 365 days a year, on 116 123, email [email protected], or see www.samaritans.org/ireland/branches/galway
