LET’S SEE What The East Wind Brings, the new album from English singer-songwriter Good Shepherd, will be released on the independent Galway label, Rusted Rail, tomorrow, Friday October 1.
The album finds Good Shepherd - the stage name of Cambridgeshire-based Duncan Poyser - musing and ruminating on wildlife, the sea, and the elements. Musically, this is late night, minimalist, brooding, moody, acoustic driven indie-rock (‘The Beast’, ‘There Is A Mountain’ ) - and should appeal to those who religiously watched No Disco back in the day. By contrast there are occasional touches of sixties styled folk-pop (‘Sunday Morning Sun’, ‘Song for Isaac’ ).
The album also charts life for Poyser before his autism diagnosis. “What is evident to me now are the narratives and mantras I was using to steer myself through life before a diagnosis of autism,” he says. “These experiments with guitar and song become a notebook of emotional survival from a boy with a far away look in his eye, trying to connect with a lost love, while navigating the tangles of humanity in a city way too big for comfort."
The album will be released digitally, and on CD with a six-panel gatefold CD sleeve, which reflects Poyser’s interest in birdwatching. See https://www.rustedrail.com and https://rustedrail.bandcamp.com.
