A unique Galway gift will be presented in all sailors in this year’s Volvo Ocean Race when they arrive in the city.
Well known local businesswoman and potter, Judy Greene, has created special edition commemorative platters which will be presented to each of the 77 sailors on their arrival into Galway
Originally from Athlone, Co Westmeath, Judy Greene travelled extensively in Africa, Switzerland, and the United States developing her talents before choosing to settle and trade in Galway in the early 80s, celebrating 25 years in 2007.
The sailors will be among several high-profile personalities for whom she has created personalised pieces, including past Presidents of Ireland, members of the government, and ambassadors.
John Killeen, chairman of Let’s Do It Galway, says he is delighted to showcase such a wonderful talent and homegrown craft.
