No rest for All Ireland winning camogie stars

It is straight back to club action for all the senior camogie players who won Galway’s fourth All Ireland title when the 2021 Lough Rea Hotel and Spa Senior Camogie Championship kicks off this weekend.

On Saturday Mullagh take on Oranmore Maree in St Thomas’ at 2pm when Mullagh will be looking to improve on last year's form when they failed to make the knockout stages.

Oranmore Maree will be looking to go one step further and make the county final, something they have been close to achieving in the last two years. And later in the evening, Davitts take on Craughwell at 5pm in St Thomas’ in the first Senior B clash. With a mixture of youth and experience Davitts would like to continue their winning form after claiming the Senior B League title a few weeks ago, while Craughwell, a youthful side ,will be hoping to begin their campaign with a victory.

On Sunday it is repeat of the Senior A League final when Athenry take on Ardrahan in Lackagh at 12 noon. Both sides are evenly matched and it is a game that could go right down to the wire.

In Tynagh, Sarsfields, the 2020 champions take on St Thomas’ at 11am. St Thomas’ will be without one of their key players, Heather Cooney, as she continues her recovery from a cruciate ligament injury.

At 1pm Killimor take on Eyrecourt, who made the knockout stages of last year's championship. They will have their sights on bigger success this year, while Killimor will be looking to go one better and reach the knockout stages of this years championship.

The 2021 Intermediate champions, Clarinbridge, will begin their Senior Championship against Carnmore in Kilbeacanty at 11am on Sunday. Carnmore will be looking to put the disappointment of their Senior B League final behind them while Clarinbridge will want to get their senior championship debut off to winning ways.
