Three new bus stops are to be installed in the west side of the city as part of a plan to install 18 new shelters across the city as a whole.
The new shelters will be located at the current bus shelter at Cappagh Road, near the Cappagh Stores; at Salthill, on the opposite side of the road from BlackRock. Their shelter there is in poor condition and needs to be replaced; the top of Taylor’s Hill.
The new shelters have been welcomed by Labour Galway City West councillor, Niall McNelis, who said they had the added benefit of allowing “greater access for all” onto the buses due to the raised kerb.
The shelters are being installed and provided by a company called JC DeCaux they have a contract with the National Transport Authority to provide, install, and maintain the shelters.
