HIS MUSIC has been praised by Paul Weller and Pete Townshend; his songs have been covered by Josh Groban and Eddi Reader; while writer Pete Paphides has called him, “the Irish John Prine”.
He is singer-songwriter Declan O’Rourke, who this week announced a 12 date tour of Ireland, which takes in Galway’s Town Hall Theatre on Saturday March 19 2022.
At the show, Declan will perform songs from across his career, including his marvellous latest album, Arrivals, which was produced by Paul Weller. Pete Townshend called it “a gem. Fabulous guitar and singing”; “O’Rourke is a masterful lyricist and staggering guitarist,” said MOJO; “proffering reassurance in the face of inevitable sorrow,” said The New York Times; while “Declan O’Rourke and his intimate, contemplative music brilliantly stands out,” declared American Songwriter.
Not content with creating one of the finest albums of his career, the south Galway based musician is about to make his literary debut. The Pawnbroker’s Reward, a historical fiction novel, will be out on October 29 from Gill Books.
This is a 'Róisín Dubh presents...' event. Tickets go on sale on Thursday September 23 from 10am from Ticketmaster, www.tht.ie, and www.roisindubh.net
