Claregalway to get switched on

The new traffic lights in Claregalway village are to be switched on tomorrow, September 12, much to the relief of residents and long suffering motorists.

Oranmore Councillor Jim Cuddy gladly announced this week that the traffic lights which will be used to co-ordinate traffic at the busy junction between the N18 and N17 will finally be turned on and it is hoped that the system will help ease some of the congestion at peak times.

“I am appealing to motorists to be patient at the beginning until everyone gets used to this new system. These traffic lights are being installed in conjunction with the Quality Bus Corridor through Claregalway and are an important measure to help alleviate the traffic until the Claregalway Inner Relief Road is constructed.

“Hopefully when the lights are switched on this coming Friday, they will bring welcome relief to the residents and motorists who have to endure daily delays in the village,” said Cllr Cuddy.
