Galway’s largest provider of early years courses, Galway Community College is introducing the new QQI early learning and care professional award which is a milestone for the early years sector.
Beginning September 20, this is year one of a two year programme leading to the advanced certificate at Level 6. Learners may exit the programme after one year and be awarded a Level 5 certificate in early learning and care. This is a full time course which runs from September to May. It gives a balance of theory and practice which is developed during the learner’s work experience.
Learners are not expected to have prior knowledge or experience of early learning and care on entry to the programme, but should have an interest in working in this sector.
The new early learning and care course provides a further education pathway, allowing progression up to honours degree level. Alternatively, learners can enter the workforce on successful completion of this course.
