FOR THE artist Paula Pohli, farmers and visual artists share much in common: they love animals; watch the weather for changes that occur hourly; are interested in flora and fauna, and work long hours.
Originally from Dublin, but now living in Mayo, her experiences of the urban and the rural are encapsulated in her new exhibition - Juxtapositions.

Paula Pohli, Postcard from Home, Mayo (2020 ), Egg and Oil Tempera on Panel, 9.5x10in.
Juxtapositions, Paula’s first solo exhibition at the Kenny Gallery, Liosbán, opens tomorrow, Friday September 10, with linocuts and tempera paintings juxtaposing the natural with the man-made.
Paula’s linocut prints are cut, inked, and printed entirely by hand without a printing press, and offered in very low editions. Her egg tempera paintings are created in an expressive Giotto-esque manner with yolk of egg, purified water, and carefully selected pigments. The Irish Times art critic, Aidan Dunne, called Paula “a specialist in Linocuts and an exacting technician”.
