The Homeplace Cafe in Headford celebrates two years in business this Saturday. After its opening in 2019, the cafe quickly became known for its warm, welcoming, atmosphere and cosy surroundings, not to mention the fabulous home cooked breakfast and lunch. Local artists were invited to exhibit their work on the walls of the cafe which also lent to the atmosphere and added to the sense of community that it has become known for.
Good food made from great produce is at the heart of the cafe, and this has been led from the front by owner and chef Orlaith Keane. Everything is made fresh in-house every day and she uses as much local and seasonal produce as possible.
In response to the pandemic, the cafe had to be reinvented as a take-away and shop, and Orlaith Keane's baking skills came to shine. Her now famous brown bread, made from her grandmother's recipe, and delicious apple tarts kept the customers going back for more. These, along with hot and cold dinners and various other home-made produce, kept the doors open throughout the last 18 months.
On the occassion of the cafe's second birthday, Orlaith Keane would like to thank her loyal staff for all their help through the ups and downs of the last couple of years. She would also like to say a heartfelt thanks to all her customers for their support in keeping the doors open through the Covid pandemic. The Homeplace Cafe is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Phone 093 36438.
