A very special classical music concert by renowned Irish pianists John O’Conor and Joe O’Grady will be streamed globally from county Galway tonight Thursday 2 September at 7:00pm.
Presented to national and international audiences by the Ireland China Business Association in conjunction with Dublin International Piano Competition, the concert will feature a wonderful evening of classical music from the beautiful surroundings of iconic Kylemore AbbeY
The event will include welcome remarks from H.E. Ann Derwin, Irish Ambassador to China and from H.E. He Xiangdong, Chinese Ambassador to Ireland, as well as contributions from Ireland China Business Association Chair, Caroline Devlin. Artists John O’Conor and Joe O’Grady will introduce the musical programme of classical favourites and new pieces.
Acclaimed pianist, John O’Conor, Artistic Director of the Dublin International Piano Competition will perform Beethoven’s Sonata in C sharp minor Op. 27 No. 2, known and beloved by many as the “Moonlight Sonata”, as well as the Argentinian Dances Op. 2 by Ginastera. Talented young pianist Joe O’Grady, recipient of the Lucien and Maura Teissier Scholarship 2021, will perform Hungarian Rhapsody No.6 in D flat by Liszt; Summertime by Gershwin, arranged by The Pianos of Cha’n and Chopin’s Etude in C sharp minor Op. 10 No. 4s.
Speaking ahead of the event, Caroline Devlin, Ireland China Business Association Chair said they are delighted to host this wonderful evening.

John O’Conor, Artistic Director of the Dublin International Piano Competition said that as they plan towards their 2022 Competition, the DIPC is very happy to work with the ICBA in fostering closer cultural ties with China and in highlighting the amazing pianistic wizardry of the Irish Chinese 15-year-old pianist Joe O’Grady.
