A Reliquary of Beasts at 126 Gallery

Exhibition explores ‘humanity's complicated relationship and moral positions to the animal kingdom’

ANIMALS - THEIR place in our lives, how they have been depicted in art, and divergences on cross-border practices on animal products caused by Brexit, are being examined in a new exhibition.

Reliquary of Beasts, featuring work by two Irish, and two UK artists, is currently running at the 126 Artist-Run Gallery & Studios, at 15 St Bridget’s Place.

The exhibition, part of the Galway International Arts Festival, has been curated by Simon Fennessy Corcoran, and features work by Christie Brown, Rose Robson, Jo Kimmins, and Sarah Lundy.

126 is hoping Reliquary of Beasts will spark a critical conversation on “humanity's complicated relationship and moral positions to the animal kingdom, both as product and as art subject and material”.

Reliquary of Beasts runs until Sunday September 19. Gallery opening hours are Mondays to Sundays from 12 noon to 6pm. Those attending the exhibition are asked to wear face masks.
