How the blues influenced Bob Dylan

BOB DYLAN practically invented blues-rock on Blonde On Blonde and the blues has always loomed large in his work, just listen to his new album Together Through Life.

The impact of the blues on Dylan’s music, lyrics, and outlook on life will be discussed at what promises to be a lively and entertaining event in The Ruby Room in The King’s Head on Thursday May 28 at 7.30pm.

Michael Gray, author of The Bob Dylan Encyclopaedia and Song & Dance Man III: The Art Of Bob Dylan, and a world authority on the singer-songwriter, will give a public talk - using records and rare footage - to show how Dylan has been inspired by the blues and how much of its poetry has been smuggled inside his own.

Tickets are available from Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop (091 - 561766 ) but are limited. See Michael Gray’s blog at http://bobdylanencyclopedia.blogspot.com
