ICPPD – a unique learning environment, ethos, and culture

Delivering programmes in Galway, Athlone, and online and with an administrative headquarters in Athlone, the International College for Personal and Professional Development, ICPPD, opened its doors to learners in September 2010.

ICPPD’s vision is to inspire, encourage, and support people on their path towards wholeness and wellness. The goal of the organisation is to provide academic and professional validated programmes of excellence in the field of counselling and psychotherapy and to offer associated courses to a community of adult learners from at home and abroad.

ICPPD has become a leading provider of accredited personal and professional programmes with a difference, nationally and internationally, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The college is the combined community of learners and staff. The programmes are different, the tutors are different, and the adult learners are different.

ICPPD began out of a need to create a learning environment where people were valued and affirmed for their life experiences and academic achievements. ICPPD has a unique learning environment, ethos, and culture that is attractive to adult learners from all parts of the country.

As a third level college, ICPPD has gained by testimonials and word of mouth a reputation for learner care and academic excellence. The college is a leading provider of holistic counselling and psychotherapy training and education in Ireland, with programmes running in Athlone and Galway for more than 10 years.

ICPPD has programmes commencing at various times throughout the academic year. Following the experience of successfully delivering classes online due to Covid-19, ICPPD will continue to deliver classes for 2021-22 through blended learning – a mix of face-to-face classroom and online delivery.

The holistic ethos that underpins all programmes offered at ICPPD is inherent in all training and education courses on offer. Facilitators and core tutors are experienced, warm, vibrant, and supportive. The programme is supported by a learning environment that is experiential and highly interactive.

Interviews are currently taking place for the one-year add-on BA (hons ) in holistic counselling and psychotherapy and the IACP-accredited four-year part-time BA (hons ) in holistic counselling and psychotherapy.

Applications are also being accepted for the certificate in personal development and introductory certificate in holistic counselling and psychotherapy programmes, both of which will commence online in mid-October 2021.

The IACP-accredited professional diploma in advanced supervision across professions commences in November 2021, while the professional diploma in expressive arts and professional certificate in psychosynthesis are both scheduled to commence in spring 2022.

ICPPD also offers a suite of short CPD online courses for anyone interested in wellbeing, personal development, mindfulness, and nature, and these can be undertaken at any time. A CPD certificate in loss and bereavement which can be undertaken over six months through distant learning is also a very popular programme at ICPPD.
