Declan O'Rourke to play Nimmo’s Pier next week

Acclaimed singer-songwriter to perform at Róisín Dubh’s ‘A Grand Auld Stretch’

“HE WRITES the sort of classic songs people don’t write anymore, songs that sound like they’ve been around forever. Listen to 'Galileo', possibly the greatest song written in the last 30 years.”

So said no less a songerwriter than the great Paul Weller, who also produced Declan’s new album, the magnificent Arrivals, which was released on East West Records in April.

Not only has Declan returned with new music, he is also back on our stages, as the Kinvara based singer-songwriter plays the Róisín Dubh’s ‘A Grand Auld Stretch’ event at Nimmo’s Pier on Thursday August 19 at 9pm.

Arrivals is an album centred on themes of meetings and departures as they affect family, relationships, and the self.

The album met with deserved critical acclaim, Uncut saying, “if he’s been a best-kept secret up to now Arrivals should finally blow his cover'”; The Irish Times in a four star review, declared O’Rourke, “the quintessential songwriter’s songwriter”; while RnR gave the album five stars and said Arrivals, “confirms his status as one of Ireland’s finest songwriters and performers”.

Due to Covid19 measures, this event is seated. Tickets are sold per pods of four and six. Tickets are available via https://roisindubh.net.
