New exhibition from Olga Magliocco

Entropy to run at Oughterard Courthouse from August 13 to 22

ICE MELTING into water, thermodynamics, motion, and constant change - these are the ideas behind Entropy, a new exhibition at Oughterard Courthouse.

Entropy, by artist Olga Magliocco, is the fourth and final show of the Oughterard Courthouse Arts Programme summer exhibitions. It opens tomorrow, Friday August 13, from 5pm to 7pm.

"The word entropy finds its roots in the Greek and Italian ‘entropia’, which means ‘a turning towards’ or ‘transformation’. For Olga Magliocco, art is a process of transformation, with the process changing constantly throughout the creation of the work. In science entropy comes from the principle of thermodynamics and the idea that everything in the universe eventually moves from order to disorder and entropy.

“This energy and constant change is reflected in the diverse range of works,” she says, “with crossovers and synergies that bring together a cohesive and dynamic body of work.”

The exhibition runs until Sunday August 22. Gallery opening times are 10am to 5pm (Mondays to Saturdays ) and 12 noon to 5pm (Sundays ). For more information email [email protected] or see www.ocap.ie
