Cairde Othair na Gaillimhe (Friends of Galway Patients ) have launched a Fund Raising campaign to pay for urgently needed projects at GUH, Merlin Park and Portiuncula Hospital. The hospital service throughout the country has had a particularly challenging year. COVID -19 has been extremely difficult to deal with in all environments. In a hospital where you know the virus has being brought to you by the sick patients the issue of working with that hazard and preventing others spreading or catching the disease on a 24/7 basis would test anyone’s patience to say the least.
In addition to that add in the major challenge of an IT system hack. All communications and information even down to photocopying and telephony were out of commission for weeks on end. This makes the delivery of care intolerable.
Cairde Othair na Gaillimhe have decided to run a Staff Only Draw as a Thank You to all the hospital staff in the Galway Hospitals. The prize for 14 winners (we would love to have more winners ) is an afternoon on a Galway Hooker on Galway Bay with light lunch at Mick Taylors in Dominick Street.
