Connemara West has opened a pop-up remote working hub with a difference in Tullycross village. The Hub is located at Renvyle Thatched Cottages making it possibly one of the most unusual and picturesque digital spaces in the West of Ireland. Users of the pop-up hub also have the option of booking accommodation in a separate cottage although accommodation availability is limited for the next few months due to high demand.
The pop-up remote working hub is part of the larger Global Learning and Digital Hub project for Tullycross village which received funding from the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund and is being led by the Western Development Commission.

Building work on that project is on hold largely due to COVID-19-related delays. However, Kevin Heanue, Chairman of Connemara West said “we felt we had to respond right now to the large number of requests we were getting for desk space fromremote workers, people with businesses and holiday makers coming to the region”.
“Desk space can be rented on a half day, full day or weekly basis, parking is free and because the pop- up hub is right in the middle of Tullycross village, the pubs, restaurants, hotel and diner are just across the road.

“With Connemara National Park and Kylemore Abbey a few miles away, and fantastic beaches and walks within minutes, this is an ideal location to work remotely from,” said Janet O’Toole from Connemara West who is managing the pop-up
The pop-up hub is a natural fit for Connemara West as its headquarters in Letterfrack is a designated enterprise centre and the organisation is a member of the National Association of Community Enterprise Centres which promotes remote working opportunities.

“We lookforward to working with the association and all other organisations promoting remote working as we also explore putting remote working facilities in place in Letterfrack in the near future”, said Mr Heanue.
“Not only are we servicing a need but we are doing our part to deliver on the government’s recently launched strategies around remote working and rural development”, said Ms O’Toole.
