Salthill housing estate to be taken in charge by city council

Local authority has issued tenders for a contractor to carry out an in-depth survey of the water distribution network at the estate

Carragh Mews housing estate in Salthill is another step closer to being taken in charge by the Galway City Council.

The local authority has issued tenders for a contractor to carry out an in-depth survey of the water distribution network and a report has been compiled for any required works on public lighting. These works will then allow a proposal for having the estate taken in charge to be brought before the elected members at an upcoming council meeting.

“This is bringing an end to the issues residents have had to deal with for the past number of years,” said Fine Gael Galway City West councillor, Clodagh Higgins, who has been working with the Carragh Mews residents on this issue.

“A lot of hard work has been put in to get to this stage and I would like to thank the residents for their patience and Galway City Council for working with me to find a solution. We are now within touching distance”.
