Athenry Credit Union announces photography competition winners

Athenry Credit Union received a phenomenal response for their amateur Photography Competition. Entrants were encouraged to explore the beauty of Ireland and take the time to review their cameras and devices to find previously taken photos to enter the competition.

Brendan Reaney was this year’s overall winner with a beautiful photo of Athenry Train Station covered in a blanket of snow; Anne Lyng’s energetic photo of swimmers leaving the sea during a triathlon took second place; third place went to Gerry Kavanagh’s photo of a beautiful sunset through a bicycle ornament in the foreground, fourth place went to Bernadette Mulligan with her photo taken on a foggy morning at the Claddagh in Galway city; and the fifth place photo taken by Jill Benton captures Jill’s son Luke watching over a herd of cattle.

Philip Lavelle, Marketing Officer for Athenry Credit Union said that each photo they received was visually stunning and told its own story.

“The diversity of images we received was amazing. We are delighted that this competition gives amateur photographers the opportunity to express themselves. With such a large response to the competition again this year it was not an easy task choosing five winners from all the amazing entries that we received. I would like to congratulate the overall winner Brendan Reaney and our four runners up.”
