AN CRIÚ Collective - the artists group which works with large arts and theatre organisations in Galway - will open their first outdoor exhibition on Inis Oírr, this Saturday, July 17, at 3.30pm.
The exhibition, entitled Amach‘s Amach (Out’n’Out ), was inspired by the “constraints and disconnections” of lockdown. It will feature new, cross-disciplinary artwork, created by more than 20 artists, and will be held in An Gairdín Draíochta, Inis Oírr until August 20.
The exhibiting artists are Áine Lawless, Bill Wright, Cherie White, Chris Gibbons, Claudia Lamantea, Daniel Guinnane, Dara McGee, Dave Donovan, Debbie Wright, Emma O’Grady, Eugene Finnegan, Esther Stupers, Helen Gregg, Jojo Hynes, Katya Solomatina, Mary Doyle, Michelle Ruane, Midie Corcoran, Mikey Dawson, Niamh Moloughney, Pete Casby, Róisín Stack, Tommy Casby, and Tom Meskell.

“Amach‘s Amach is audacious,” said the artists in a statement. “We have taken a bold, unbridled approach to creating this work: when you’re out - you’re out! As we go out, we acknowledge our roots, our tether and as always the work An Criú artists create for these shows is inspired by our connection to the unique island of Inis Oírr.”
July 17 will also see a walkabout theatre show - the world premiere of a It’s A Lovely Day For A Hike! by the Turas Theatre Collective at 2.30pm.

The show was developed by the performers Debbie Wright, Helen Gregg, and Daniel Guinnane throughout lockdown. A celebration of the great outdoors and suitable for all the family, audiences will Join avid hill-walkers, Cecil, Catriona, and Jayne as they head off-piste on a local hiking trail. Will they reach the summit before they lose daylight?
Amach‘s Amach is supported by the Galway County Arts Office and is being hosted by Áras Éanna as part of its 21st birthday celebrations. For more on the exhibition and the theatre show see aras-eanna.ie
