Galway WFC face another tricky WNL fixture at Jackman Park against Treaty United on Sunday afternoon (2pm ).
DLR Waves, prompted by the excellent Katie Malone, proved too strong for Galway at Eamonn Deacy Park so manager Stephen Lally is demanding a significant improvement.
Julie Ann Russell and Meabh De Burca are set to feature for Galway which will be a boost according to Lally.
“When we get a full squad of players available we will be fine,” Lally says. “Treaty were very unlucky to lose to Wexford. It isn't going to be easy.
“If we have Julie Ann and Meabh on the pitch it will make a huge difference. We aren't making any excuses, it was disappointing to lose to DLR Waves. It was a very flat performance, but we will improve.”
Despite suffering a defeat to DLR Waves on home turf, Lally remains positive and optimistic about the rest of the campaign
“There is an awful lot more in us, we didn't perform at all, we didn't show up,” Lally says. “I thought that they started brightly, I saw that they were good and that they looked sharp. We were chasing for the first 10 minutes, but in fairness after they scored we came back into it.
“I thought we had some nice passages of play and that we matched them. Coming up to half-time we had some good passages, but they were always dangerous. Some of their players were really sharp and dangerous.”
Goalkeeper Leah Hayes Coen enjoyed an encouraging debut, while Lally will also be hoping that accomplished players such as Shauna Fox, Savannah McCarthy, and Lynsey McKey can demonstrate their considerable ability in Limerick.
