MARY LEE, the acclaimed Galway poet will launch her latest collection of poetry, Everyday Epiphanies at a special Zoom event on Friday July 23 at 7pm.
Everyday Epiphanies, published by Kelsay Books, is Lee’s second collection. It has been praised by social justice campaigner, Sr Stanislaus Kennedy, as expressing “Christian spirituality in a far more intimate and revealing way than is possible from pulpit or rostrum”.
'The lively and the lethal'
The award-winning poet, Aidan Mathews, said of the collection: “You cannot isolate eros from agape, the sensual creation from the embodied human spirit. But it takes a life of scars and starlight to learn this by heart. Loss and discovery, the lively and the lethal, shadow and suntrap, are always intermingled in these verses...here, then, are hymns to a hyphenated world”.
Lee is originally from a farm on the shores of Lough Corrib, and now lives in Galway. She has worked as a teacher and in community development. A trained psychotherapist, she also established the ed Vita House Family Centre in Roscommon.
The guest speaker at the launch will be the poet, Kevin Higgins. To attend the launch join the Zoom meeting at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/7389013549. The meeting ID is 738 901 3549.
