Pearse Doherty to address online Galway meeting on rising Insurance costs

Meeting to take place via Zoom on Tuesday July 13 at 8pm

“Insurance costs have become extortionate, ripping off consumers and closing down businesses. The whole industry is in need of a radical overhaul.”

This is the view of Sinn Féin Galway East representative, Louis O’Hara, who was speaking in advance at an online meeting for Galway on the subject of insurance rates.

The meeting will be addressed by Sinn Féin finance spokesperson, Pearse Doherty. Mr O’Hara [pictured below] will also be speaking. It will take place via Zoom on Tuesday July 13 at 8pm. There will be an outline of Sinn Féin’s proposals to tackle rising costs of insurance throughout the State, and the party’s plans to ban discriminatory dual pricing; set up a Garda Insurance Fraud Unit; and using Dep Doherty’s recent legislation to force insurance companies to pass on their savings from the new Personal Injuries Guidelines to consumers.

“Insurance costs affect the lives of ordinary people and businesses throughout Galway,” said Dep Doherty. “This meeting will provide an opportunity for people in the area to tell their own stories of interactions with the insurance industry and to give their own perspective as to how it can be addressed. We want to hear from people in County Galway who are being affected by high insurance costs so that we can work to end the insurance rip-off.”

The meeting is open to the public. Those wishing to attend can request the Zoom link by emailing [email protected].
