Commemoration for old IRA volunteer William Freeney

Event at Teampall Geal Cemetery, Derrydonnell to mark 100th anniversary of the death of IRA captain

Athenry Sinn Féin will hold a commemoration on Sunday June 27 at 3pm in Teampall Geal Cemetery, Derrydonnell to mark the 100th anniversary of the death of IRA captain William Freeney.

Feeney, from Derrydonnell, who died on active service in Athenry in June 1921 during the War of Independence. SF Galway East representative, Louis O’Hara, will chair proceedings. The main oration will be given by SF Galway West TD Mairéad Farrell. All are welcome to attend.
