Brú Theatre to host physical theatre workshops

Classes to run throughout August at the Town Hall Theatre, and will involve the LeCoq technique

IN AUGUST, Brú School will host a two-week physical theatre summer school for adult theatre makers, led by Phillipa Hambly from Arthaus Berlin and Brú’s James Riordan.

The workshop will be based in the Town Hall Theatre with six to eight participants. It will explore the LeCoq technique, ensemble devising, and physical comedy.

The first week (Monday August 16 to Friday 20 ) will focus on dynamic space, movement, physicality, and play. The second week (Monday 23 to Friday 27 ) will look at ways of applying these principles to theatre construction. Participants can choose whether to participate for one or both weeks. Across both weeks, participants will explore mask work, clown, and mime.

The school will run from 10am to 4pm, Mondays to Fridays. It costs €100 per week and there are two bursaries available. For more information see brutheatre.com The deadline for expression of interest is Friday July 2.
