Farrell demands ‘urgent action’ on Connemara ambulance service

TD says Conamara Ambulance Crisis group is anxious that this issue is being “kicked down the road”

Eight weeks have elapsed since a meeting where the National Ambulance Service promised a full report on establishing an ambulance base near Maam Cross, but to date that report has not been supplied.

The situation has been described by the Sinn Féin Galway West TD, Mairead Farrell as “unacceptable” and she has called for “urgent action”.

In April, Dep Farrell hosted a meeting between Galway representatives, the Conamara Ambulance Crisis Group, and the National Ambulance Service.

“The meeting I organized in April was very positive and productive, but unfortunately there has been a lack of action since then,” she said. “The NAS must supply the report on establishing an ambulance base near Maam Cross with urgency. Members of the Conamara Ambulance Crisis group is anxious that once again this issue is being kicked down the road. They have been waiting long enough for action. Progress on this issue must be made now.”
