This August, double Olympic medal Winner Paddy Barnes will hop into a wheelchair to take on Galway comedian Stevo Timothy in this charity bash in aid of the Irish Wheelchair Association.
Stevo Timothy, famous for his viral Farmer Michael character, who completed a charity cycle last year and raised over €63,000 despite having incomplete paraplegia, is taking to the ring.
This time around it’s even more extreme. On August 28 in the Clayton Hotel Galway Stevo will take on Paddy Barnes. An Olympic Winner v a completely amateur wheelchair user.
Paddy is going to get into a wheelchair for a charity fight. It may seem like a completely lunatic move but as usual there’s method in the madness.
For Paddy, it will be an opportunity to experience what it’s like in a wheelchair albeit if only for a short time. It will give Stevo the opportunity to prove that wheelchair users can do anything they set their minds to and to break the stereotype of the wheelchair user as helpless and deserving of pity.
