Two Galway solicitors have set up a new Will register to help members of the legal profession.
Ann Heneghan of Heneghan & Associates and Antoinette McMahon of McMahon & Co have established the new register which is only available to practicing solicitors.
Ann Henegan says there is currently no official Will Register in Ireland and as a result the legal profession “wastes lots of time emailing other solicitors and contacting Bar Associations without knowing if they are even looking in the right county”.
“After a brain-storming session we came up up with our own solution and so we created Irish Wills Register (IWR ).
“We’ve made the website as user friendly as possible so that practitioners can get all of their Wills registered, and this can then be the ‘one stop shop’ for Will searches.
Although there is another company offering a similar service, she says IWR is based on an annual subscription, and the public cannot access the website to carry out their own searches.
